If you’re a fan of homemade cosmetics and other DIY beauty products, making your own perfume at home may have crossed your mind. Beware: making perfume is the job of a lifetime! Enfleurage, distillation, expression, extraction, perfume extracts and techniques for making perfume: on average, it takes 10 years to become a perfumer! Before trying to compete with our expert perfumers, let us tell you everything you need to know about this unique skill.
Eau de parfum vs eau de toilette: opt for a long-lasting scent!
It’s not always easy to decide which perfume to wear. The major difference between an eau de parfum and an eau de toilette lies in their concentration. An eau de toilette is lighter: made with less than 10% perfume, it’s therefore more volatile. At Bon Parfumeur, we’ve made the decision to create eaux de parfum, which last longer on the skin. With a concentration of 10-20%, your favorite perfume will last from the moment you get up until you go to bed. If you come home in the early hours of the morning, you’ll probably still be able to enjoy the scent of your chosen fragrance, along with your memories of a magical night out.
Making a perfume: embrace the mix and match trend!
You can try to make perfume at home by using fragrance oils, carrier oil and essential oil. Add 80 drops of carrier oil and 10 drops of essential oil if you want to make your own custom creation. But being a perfumer is a full-time job. It takes several years to learn how to find the perfect balance between the different raw materials. Making your own perfume? Much more difficult than it seems!
If you don’t feel qualified to sit in front of a perfume organ with a multitude of little bottles, we have an idea for you!
To create your own impressive olfactory signature, have fun with our sets which you can use to mix and match. Spray several eaux de parfum together to create unique scents.
For a getaway in Italy’s winding streets
An ode to la dolce vita, enjoy the delicate warmth of the sun’s rays on your skin with the 801 & 102 duo. The aquatic and citrus notes of 801 combined with the scent of tea in 102 make us want to sit out on a terrace and enjoy a lemon and limoncello sorbet.
For a weekend in the countryside
Want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the quiet of the countryside? We couldn’t recommend the 201 & 802 duo more. Combined with the aquatic notes of lotus of 802, the fruity notes of green apple and quince of 201 transport us to a lush garden: the perfect location for a nap in the shade.
For an artistic trip
Just like an artist sketching the features of their loved one in a workshop bathed in natural light, the artistic duo of 003 & 602 creates a real sense of desire. The yuzu notes of 003 pep up the woody notes of patchouli, vetiver and cedar. The pepper of 602 and the violet add real personality to this particularly unique fragrance.
To relive a wild night out
Memories of last night haunting you? Thanks to the duo of 301 & 003, you gradually remember the cozy feel of the whisky bar with its comfortable upholstered armchairs. 003’s notes of yuzu and cardamom evoke the endless citrus cocktails you sipped at the bar in charming company.
