SUMMARY

What does the word peach mean?

The peach's scientific name is "Prunus persica". It belongs to the Rosaceae family. Its name comes from the Latin "persica", meaning "from Persia", as it was thought to have originated in Persia. However, it actually originated in China and was introduced to Persia by the Romans.

In the beginning...

The peach has a long history in perfumery. The Greeks and Romans were already using peaches to create perfumes. In the Middle Ages, the Arabs also contributed to the use of peaches in perfumery to create fruity, sweet fragrances. Today, peach is still a common ingredient in women's fragrances. It is often combined with other fruity notes such as raspberry or cherry to create light, fresh fragrances. Peach-based fragrances can also be combined with floral notes such as jasmine or rose to create more sophisticated scents.

The peach originated in China, where it was first cultivated over 4,000 years ago. It was then introduced to Persia, then to Europe by the Romans. Over time, the peach has become a very popular fruit worldwide, cultivated in many regions: Asia, Europe and North America.

Peach cultivation

Peaches, the fruit of the peach tree (Prunus persica), are grown in many parts of the world. Peach cultivation requires a temperate to warm climate, with a sufficient cold period to allow good winter dormancy. Peach trees are generally planted in spring in well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Regular pruning is necessary to maintain a shape suitable for harvesting and to promote good air and light circulation. Protection against disease and pests is essential, with the use of biological control methods and phytosanitary products where necessary. Peaches are harvested when ripe, usually by hand, to preserve their flavor and quality.

Peach accords

Peach scent is created using accords rather than pure peach extracts, for several reasons. It depends on the availability of raw materials, as peach is a seasonal fruit and its harvest can be limited. In addition, by using accords, perfumers can precisely control the olfactory characteristics of the peach note. Nevertheless, it's important to note that the exact composition of a peach perfume can vary from brand to brand and perfumer to perfumer. Some perfumers may choose to use natural peach extracts, while others prefer to create a peach accord from both synthetic and natural ingredients.

Quality control: By using accords, perfumers can precisely control the quality and olfactory characteristics of the peach note. They can adjust proportions and ingredients to achieve the desired scent, while ensuring olfactory consistency and stability.

What do you know about peach in perfumery?

Peaches are a key ingredient in many fragrance compositions, thanks to their sweet, fruity, almost velvety scent. To capture the essence of the peach, it is essential to carefully cultivate and harvest the fruit, then process it into high-quality essential oil.

The treatment and processing of peach accords in perfumery involves formulating a blend of synthetic and/or natural ingredients to recreate the scent of peach. The ingredients are carefully blended in specific proportions to obtain the desired peach accord. Finally, the fragrance is filtered and stabilized to ensure its quality and durability.

To help you explore the world of peach in perfumery, here are a few olfactory accords that highlight this fruity note:

• Peach and vanilla accord: for a soft, sensual fragrance, opt for a peach and vanilla accord. The sweetness of vanilla complements the fruity sweetness of peach, creating a gourmand, comforting fragrance composition.

• Peach and wood accord: for a more masculine fragrance, combine the fruity note of peach with woody notes such as cedar or sandalwood. The result is a warm, enveloping fragrance, ideal for winter evenings.

• Peach and white flowers accord: for a more floral fragrance, combine the fruity note of peach with notes of white flowers such as jasmine or lily of the valley. The result is a fresh, light fragrance, perfect for summer days.

Whether you're looking for a touch of freshness or sensuality, peach in perfumery is an option to consider for a complete and pleasurable sensory experience.

INTERESTING FACT!
Not only are peaches used in perfumery, they also have numerous health benefits. Rich in vitamins A and C, potassium and fiber, the peach is an ideal fruit for maintaining good digestive and cardiovascular health. It can also help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Finally, peaches are also a common ingredient in cooking, particularly in desserts and jams. It is also used in the manufacture of beverages, such as fruit juices and liqueurs.
